Committee
President: Xavier Droux
From Trinity Term 2009 through Hilary Term 2010, I will serve as the MCR President, the graduate community's main representative to the College. As such, I attend various College committee meetings and defend graduate interests before the Senior Members of Lincoln's Fellowship and Staff. Additionally, I liaise with and organise the MCR Student Executive and Committee, chair MCR meetings, and work for the general welfare of all members. Treasurer: George Song-Zhao
The MCR keeps a healthy budget and thus can subsidise many of our social events. However, this requires keeping track of the finances and explaining them to the members at large. My job is to write all the cheques and keep account of outgoing and incoming monies. I also advise the committee to be prudent when they get a bit too frivolous! Secretary: Glenn Wilkinson
General busy-body, I take on all the odd jobs that nobody else wants to do. My official role is to minute all MCR meetings and publish the discussion for all members to see. I must safeguard the constitution and make sure we follow the rules. Lockers, punts, newspapers, domestic issues and DVDs are all under my jurisdiction. I am also in charge of providing tea and coffee in the MCR. Social Secretaries: James Flewellen and Rich Simmonds
Lincoln MCR is one of the most sociable in Oxford. This is due to a busy schedule of organised events varying from wild nights out to quiet and relaxing lunches. We try to organise a variety of socials for all to enjoy and are welcome to new suggestions. Check out our termcard! Welfare: Bonnie van Wilgenburg and Alex Barker
We are responsible for helping students with a variety of issues, ranging from health and safety matters to financial and academic problems. Studying in intensive programs (which is the case for most students in Oxford), many will find themselves trying to deal with important concerns in an unfamiliar environment. Our role is to help these people feel comfortable enough to address these concerns and to ensure that the appropriate information is available in case they need it. Additionally, we are in charge of supplying students with material important for their safety and well-being (condoms, pregnancy tests, attack alarms etc.). In case you need any of these, feel free to send us an e-mail and the desired items will be pidged to you as soon as possible. Graduate life involves many commitments and it's not rare for people to feel lost or lonely sometimes, so don't feel embarrassed to contact us if you have any additional problems or questions. We are very approachable and can be reached quite easily. (For further contact details for Bonnie and Alex, see the Welfare Officers page.) Freshers' Rep: Chris Armstrong
In this newly-created committee position, I am here to represent the interests of students on one-year graduate courses. Recognising our time here is brief, I am here to help deal with issues that arise during that year. I am also able to liase with other MCR members and the College to ensure that we get the best experience of Lincoln possible. Other MCR Contacts Social Reps: Jian Dong and Ashley Napier
The Social Reps assist the Social Secretaries in organising Lincoln MCR's busy social calendar. Food Rep: Margherita Coccia
Along with the JCR Food Rep, the MCR Food Rep meets with Chef to represent our gastronomic interests (i.e. tell him what we like and don't like), and hopefully improve the food we get in Hall. If you have any comments or suggestions that you would like passed on to Chef, please email Margherita. Green Reps: Richard Passmore and Susie Vavrusa
The Green Reps aim to stir up enthusiasm in the MCR for all things environmentally friendly, and represent these interests before College, for example by campaigning for better recycling facilities on the College sites. A summary of available recycling facilities is available on the Green and Environment page of this site, along with current plans for how the MCR hopes to improve matters. Please get in touch with Richard (EPA site) or Susie (Bear Lane site) if you have particular ideas relating to green issues in College. Charities Rep: Latoya Flewellen
The Charities Rep liaises with, and represents the MCR's interest in, the JCR committees concerned with charities (VacProj and the 1427 Committee). She also collects charity motions to put forward at MCR meetings, and manages the MCR charity fund. Ball Rep: Tim Funnell
Lincoln College puts on a ball once every two years, with the next one scheduled for summer 2010. The Ball Committee is usually primarily made up of JCR members, but to ensure we get our say in what gets planned, this new position has been created. The Ball Rep will sit on the Ball committee and liaise with the JCR in planning this event, so if you have any great ideas or want to get involved, get in contact with Tim. Academic Events Rep: Dmitrij Lisak
The Academic Events Rep liaises with the Social Secretaries to arrange interesting speakers for events such as MCR dinners, and also organises more informal discussion groups with the aim of stimulating more academic event within College. For more information, or to suggest speakers/offer to speak at one of these events, please email Dima. Webmaster: Abi Jonas
The webmaster keeps the website up-to-date. If you have any comments or suggestions relating to this site, please email Abi. Abi is currently away and Ashley is staing in, if you have any quires please email Ashley |
